TURTLE

Four Species of Marine turtle out of seven worldwide, nest on Malaysia shores.  The soft and accessible beaches offer an out-of-the water sanctuary of these gentle giants to lay their egg clutches before returning to the sea.  Leaderback Turtle, Green Turtle, Hawsbill Turtle, and Olive Ridley Turtle - populations are in trouble.  From peak populations in the tens of thousands in the early 1990s, the current figures for nesting marine turtles are critically low.  The situation is so dire that each species is reconised as endengered and at the risk of extinction throughout its entire range.
